Biography

Windup Space is an emo-rock trio from Oosterhout, The Netherlands. Longtime friends Menno, Jesse and Steven cut right to the bone with their unique brand of melancholic, extremely dynamic rockmusic. They quickly shift between delicate melodies and furious noise and are inspired by emo bands like Brand New, Basement and Black Foxxes with a nod to 90's grunge.

Over the past year the band has worked very hard on their new record Shelter. This eight song album is a brutally honest confession about topics like depression, anxiety and loneliness. In a live setting the trio is known for their intense and emotionally driven shows, screaming their frustrations off their chest.

Windup Space was founded in 2012 by singer/guitarist Menno van Marle, bassist Jesse Kwaks en drummer Steven van Marle. After releasing the well-received debut EP The Only Thing We Have to Fear (2016) the band steadily gained a reputation as a strong live act, playing shows in venues like Paradiso, Mezz, Bibelot, Gebouw-T and W2. In 2015 Windup Space won the title of best rockband in Breda and went on to win awards in T-strijd, BandBoost and the "Kleine Prijs van Nederland" band competitions. Shelter will be released on the 22nd of March.
