Biography

Windup Space knows how to masterfully convert raw emotions into well-crafted rock songs. The band finds its way into the heart of the listener with calm, atmospheric melodies, before lashing out with powerful, vicious guitar riffs. This makes for a dynamic and melancholic sound, that can best be described as alternative rock inspired by the likes of Biffy Clyro and The Smashing Pumpkins, laced with emo influences from Brand New and Basement.

Windup Space was founded in 2012 by singer and guitarist Menno van Marle, bassist Jesse Kwaks and drummer Steven van Marle. Over the years the trio steadily became more experienced playing shows and writing songs, emerging as an essential act in the music scene of Breda. Their strong live reputation has already led Windup Space to play venues such as the Mezz (Breda), Gebouw-T (Bergen op Zoom) and Paradiso (Amsterdam). In 2015, the band reached the finals of T-strijd and won the 3rd Poprock Competition of Breda.

After the first demo EP 'Cannibals' in 2014, Windup Space released their single 'Stalling My Mind' early 2016. The second EP 'The Only Thing We Have to Fear' has been released on the 3rd of september 2016. This record showcases their most raw and emotional work to date. The lead single 'Sunlight' has been released on Youtube.
